Invented by Spacetech during Magic Reintroduction. It combined the latest tech with the newest magics to create engines capable of traveling between points much faster than light. Also opened up the ability to explore and trade with other dimensions (in the space age, pre Galactic Magic Nullification this was already being done by spellcasters traveling between planes).

The original Dimensional Drives were quite dangerous for several reasons. The tech was pushed to the public very quickly and had a lot of problems, sometimes leading to people being stranded in different dimensions or arriving in wildly unexpected places in space. Since dimensions weren't mapped out at that time either a lot of drives were just traveling 'kind of wherever' within the interdimensional networks. This led to rumors about the strange things that could happen during travel, and a lot of early Reality Disorders emerged when people were confronted with dimensions wildly different from their own.

While Htlby Glassmth did not live to see the invention of Dimensional Drives, his work laid the earliest groundwork for Dimensional Drives. In his lifetime the connection between geometry and the universe was not well understood but the Magic Reintroduction changed all of that.
