Controllers of most galactic trade. They control virtually all supply by setting prices artificially. The Partnership of Free Trade was built to combat the Syndicate by creating a means for free trade. However, this resistance isn't much of a success just yet. Governments and rich nobles rely on the Syndicate to keep their followers oppressed and maintain high taxes. It is very common for such leadership to be dissolved into the Syndicate after time. They're also in control of most factories, mines, and other resources used in the production of their goods (which includes nearly everything). Each Syndicate business can contact any other Syndicate member and request a shipment of goods. These goods can then be sold and profits split between the two businesses. Special shipments may require a request to the ship above the planet; this ship will then pull the necessary strings to acquire the item or items needed. The Syndicate has inspectors that usually travel in groups of three, one charismatic person and two muscles. Each controlled business has one inspection team that visits them from time to time, but each team is assigned several businesses. They inspect data from the business and relay the information to the main Syndicate ship in the planet's orbit. Very little is known about what happens inside the Syndicate past the inspection teams.
