People who used CAIE Interface to interact with Contained AI Environments. Typically this was done when Contained AI Environments would give bad outputs. Depending on the complexity of the Contained AI Environment and the purpose of the Reality Processing Unit they weren't always needed (such as if it was standard expected drift and simply needed reimaging). Troubleshooters often developed Reality Disorders.

General risk to Troubleshooters fell significantly once Consciousness Duplication was advanced and accepted by society. They could simply create a duplicate to send into potentially dangerous Contained AI Environments, or routine ones if their Base Consciousness needed a break. The duplicate would be erased as part of the post-diagnostic cleanup.
