Also known as The Great Tree

On one side of Homeworld lies a great mountain. This mountain has a subtle incline encompassing over a third of the planet. The incline accelerates and is actively perceivable by the naked eye as it gets closer to the peak. The top does not come to a single peak but rather a mess of progressively taller mountains in a ring-like pattern.

To the Technologers this was indicative of an asteroid or small moon impact. This resulted in a large crater on one side and the shifting of Homeworld's crust, which bunched up on the other side. Some even claimed it was caused by several moon impacts which happened to land in the same area with thousands of years between each impact.

The Life Canopy Theory serves to not just refute the asteroid theory but to replace it with an observably factual primary theory. In the broadest of explanations, the Life Canopy Theory is the realization that the great mountains on one side of Homeworld are in actuality the remnants of a large silicone based tree, bush, or even forest. This tree would have extended at minimum into the highest parts of the atmosphere but more likely would have stopped just outside the atmosphere.
