Early in the Magic Enlightenment there was a scholar. They worked with the budding field of necromancy and ultimately developed, and was a test subject for, sentient undead. With their immortality they began the long and lonely life of Era Observers. They stowed away on the colony ships but only for a brief period. As soon as technology allowed, they took off in a self-sustaining ship. As undead, there was no need for food and other life support systems which drastically reduced the ship's complexity. From their ship they've observed the galactic seasons, birth and death of many stars, and the shape of the universe. Their understanding of the little details are fuzzy but they have one of the best understandings of the big details within the universe.
