Belias Auk Yurvin was from a long line of smiths who focused on rune enchanted armor. He had inherited a forge from which the Yurvin name derives from. He marries Aresli Ifra Shariess, an enchantress of fine clothes, and they had at least one kid.

Eventually Aresli Ifra Shariess was accused by the community of performing foul magics. They were ultimately exiled and Belias Auk Yurvin had to abandon the family forge. Belias Auk Yurvin fell into alcohol and drug addiction and Aresli Ifra Shariess, unable to handle the continued accusations, left the country in secret. Belias Auk Yurvin hung himself shortly after.

During Whurara's early years she was taught how to enchant items. Though she never learned to create them while they had the forge, her curiosity in them stuck for life. She began researching artifacts and the ways in which such powerful items came to be.

As the family spiraled Whurara began to act against the local community. This was largely an attempt at revenge for who she blamed the family struggles on. Whurara first started stealing magic items from her parents. They were being cheaply sold to support the family but she felt that was a dishonor to her ancestors history as smiths and enchanters. This eventually let to her taking enchanted items from other people as well.

After Belias Auk Yurvin's suicide, Whurara was beyond distraught. She drunkenly broke into a noble's house with a few friends. They had previously cased the place; half jokingly planning to steal a minor artifact rumored to be there. Once they found it (or at least a magic item that they may have misidentified) Whurara did what any intoxicated young wizard would do: Tried her best to activate it. The activation went poorly and she mistakenly killed two of her friends.

Whurara, scared and remorseful, fled the country. She took on a new name, Valilsa Var Yurvin, but usually just went by Valilsa Var. She survived homeless on the streets and between towns for many years. After this time she started getting into the artifact stealing business. Valilsa became known for her skills in stealth and deep knowledge of artifacts and magic. For the remainder of her life she would refuse to use offensive magics on the rare occasion she made use of her natural spellcasting talent at all.
